IMT hold Constitutional Implementation workshop

The Inter-Ministerial Taskforce on the Alignment of Legislation to the Constitution (IMT) held a national conference on Constitutional implementation in Harare on 9 December 2021.
Invited to the conference were Civil Society Organizations (CSOs), representatives from government ministries and departments, independent commissions and members from academia.
The Attorney General (AG) of Zimbabwe was the guest of honour and noted the work that the IMT was doing.
The conference served as a platform for the IMT to gather diverse views on how the task force can be of help in implementing the Constitution.
The IMT has made strides in aligning laws with the Constitution and since its inception, it has come up with inclusive measures which augmented an all-inclusive approach in developing laws that are in tandem with the Constitution.
Inclusive measures by the IMT include stakeholder consultation meetings, radio programmes with feedback sessions as well as giving opportunities to the public to share their views.
The IMT was established by Cabinet in 2015 and its mandate is to coordinate and facilitate the alignment of laws with the Constitution.
