The Inter-Ministerial Taskforce (IMT) on Legislative Alignment exhibited during the 2017 edittion of the ZITF. The thrust of the exhibition was to inform and engage the public on legislative alignment, and inform them of the progress made, and also assessing whether the public was aware of the alignment processes.
The IMT stand ran under the theme, “Promoting Industrial Development through the Constitutional legislative Alignment Process” which was in sync with ZITF’s theme “harnessing linkages for industrial development”.
The IMT team was geared up to respond to all their audience, and there was a huge traffic flow.
The team explained the alignment processes, issuing out the IMT Newsletter, and also distributing copies of the Constitution. The Bill Tracker, which is encompassed in the IMT Newsletter, gave the audience an insight of progress being made by different Ministries in expediting the alignment process. It also let for public assessment, Ministries that are lacking behind the alignment process.
The Vice President of the Republic of Zimbabwe, Honourable E.D Mnangagwa, who is also the Minister of Justice Legal and Parliamentary Affairs; who was accompanied by his Permanent, Ms Mabhiza toured the IMT stand.
What was notable from the exhibition, and from comments received, was the need for people to be made aware of provisions of the constitution.
